Glass Object NIKI – A Homage to Joy and the Play of Colors

The NIKI glass object is a radiant citation of art. Inspired by the world-renowned artist Niki de Saint Phalle, it reflects the very qualities that make her work so distinctive: bold colors, abundant forms, playful patterns, and an irrepressible zest for life.

The artist became especially famous for her “Nanas” – female figures brimming with energy, sensuality, and humor. Her works celebrate life in all its diversity, radiating optimism, freedom, and a spirit of joyful experimentation.

These very qualities are mirrored in the NIKI glass object:

  • Vivid color fields and striking contrasts that instantly spread good cheer.
  • Decorative patterns on the rounded body, recalling the ornamentation of the “Nanas.”
  • Humorous details such as small figures and horns, giving the piece wit and individuality.

This makes NIKI a true statement piece – a cheerful companion that brings a smile to the faces of art lovers and adds a touch of lightness to any space.

Atop NIKI’s head sits a yellow glass form, shaped like a star or flower, reminiscent of a crown. At its center lies a stylized eye, lending the object a fantastical and humorous character.

The colorful spheres adorning the body recall the voluptuous forms of Niki de Saint Phalle’s “Nanas. They celebrate femininity, abundance, and vitality – a playful nod to symbolism and form.

A small horn adds a cheeky accent, while the blue wings give the whimsical figure a sense of lightness and motion. Scattered across the body are red lips – playful, sensual, and witty. And peeking from the back is a small bird’s head, a mischievous companion that infuses the piece with positivity and life-affirming energy.

Manual Work

Exclusive Glass Art from Borowski Glassworks: Tradition, Craftsmanship, and Innovation Combined

Each object shown here embodies the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. Behind each of the objects that appear so light, cheerful and colorful is a complex, often sweaty manufacturing process. Today only a few people or manufactories master the old, demanding craft of the glassmaker.

In the Borowski Glass Studio you can work with almost all known techniques of cold and hot glass processing - this enables the artists to realize challenging visions and constant new, experimental ideas.

The three brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor and Pawel Borowski learned how to use the glass pipe and the glowing material from scratch. While Wiktor mainly takes care of sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan work in the factory on site every day at the glass furnace.

Mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted glass objects may have minor color and shape deviations that are unavoidable for manufacturing reasons. Air inclusions in the glass are a sign of the handmade product and should not be regarded as a defect. There may be deviations of a few centimeters in the size specifications.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When fastening your object, you should make sure that it stands securely and does not wibble or tip over, even in wind or knocks. Use the mounting eyelets we provide for this purpose. Position your object so that it is safe from falling rocks or braking branches. Keep in mind that the objects are very heavy due to their quality and protruding parts (e.g. beaks, eyes, ears, tails, crowns) are not suitable as handles.
