SHERLOCK – the Detective among the ODD BIRDS

With SHERLOCK, Borowski presents a light object that playfully translates the legendary figure of Sherlock Holmes into glass. The famous detective is turned into a parody here – lovingly crafted with a touch of humor: On his head sits the unmistakable deerstalker hat – the checkered hunting cap. In front of his eye he holds a magnifying glass, symbol of his sharp powers of observation. And, of course, the classic pipe – the iconic accessory that accompanies Holmes on his mental excursions – is not to be missed. So the bird becomes a sleuth, eccentric, clever and a little mischievous – entirely in the spirit of the ODD BIRDS Edition.

Sherlock Holmes – a Literary Icon

Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous figures in world literature. Created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he has delighted generations of readers since the late 19th century with his razor-sharp logic, unusual methods and idiosyncratic personality. Holmes is more than a detective – he is a symbol of the power of observation, the fascination of mystery, and the triumph of reason over chaos. His stories shaped the genre of crime literature like few others, and to this day the master detective continues to inspire artists, filmmakers, and designers worldwide.

The SHERLOCK glass object is a handmade light object from Borowski’s special edition ODD BIRDS. It is equally suited as a charismatic home accessory indoors or as a striking sculpture in the garden or on the terrace. Designed as an outdoor light object, it can remain outside year-round. With its special charisma, it becomes the highlight of any room – a design object that inspires with its wit and character.

The fourth brood

In 2025, Stani Jan Borowski continued his playful homage to famous personalities and fictional characters with the fourth brood of ODD B IRDS. With SHERLOCK, NIKI, JACK and FRIDA, this time Stani Jan Borowski dedicated himself to extraordinary personalities and figures from art, literature and film.

Two world-famous artists, a razor-sharp detective and an eccentric pirate - their worlds could hardly be more different. And yet they have something crucial in common: They bring joie de vivre and imagination to our everyday lives - in short, the world would be a much duller place without them.

Borowski translates these characters into expressive glass objects full of small allusions and surprising details with subtle humor, bright colors and great craftsmanship.

Every outdoor space is enhanced by light – it creates a sense of safety and adds a special atmosphere.

Our light objects are designed as outdoor sculptures and easily withstand the effects of wind and weather all year round. Of course, they can also be used indoors.

Elegant, atmospheric – and a little bit magical

Add a touch of enchantment to your favorite spot in the garden or on your balcony! Whether as a cheerful eye-catcher among your flower beds, a striking art piece on the lawn, or playfully placed in a tree or on your house wall – there are no limits to your creativity. In summer, they invite you to linger with their ambient glow. In winter, they defy frost and darkness, bringing cheer with their vibrant colors and warm light.

The light objects come with a 6-meter outdoor cable.

A Fusion of Tradition, Craftsmanship and Innovation

Exclusive glass art from the Borowski glass factory

Each object shown here reflects the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. What appears lighthearted, playful, and full of color is in fact created through a demanding and often physically challenging production process. Today, only a small number of people and glass studios worldwide still master the traditional art of glassmaking.

At the Borowski Glass Studio, nearly all known techniques of hot and cold glassworking can be applied. This exceptional range of possibilities allows our artists to continuously develop new ideas and bring even highly ambitious, experimental visions to life in glass.

The brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor, and Pawel Borowski learned to work with the blowpipe and molten glass from the ground up. While Wiktor primarily oversees sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan still work daily at the furnace in the glass studio themselves.

As each object is mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted, slight variations in color, shape, and size are unavoidable. Small air inclusions in the glass are characteristic features of genuine handcrafted studio glass and should not be regarded as flaws, but rather as signs of its individual production process.

The friendly figures and characters of the OUTDOOR OBJECTS ensure “fabulous” encounters in gardens and parks – in the true sense of the word. As if from another world chameleons, birds, armadillos, and all sorts of creatures appear – bringing a little piece of their world into our own. The OUTDOOR OBJECTS create a wonderful link to their environment – inviting their owners to smile, dream and linger. These highly individual, happy visitors will enliven your garden or balcony and give your favourite spot a very special magic.

The OUTDOOR OBJECTS are weatherproof and can stand outside all year long. All these art objects are handmade and hand blown with the utmost care.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When fastening your object, you should make sure that it stands securely and does not wibble or tip over, even in wind or knocks. Use the mounting eyelets we provide for this purpose. Position your object so that it is safe from falling rocks or braking branches. Keep in mind that the objects are very heavy due to their quality and protruding parts (e.g. beaks, eyes, ears, tails, crowns) are not suitable as handles.
