Description

Fascinating Femme fatale

Admittedly, the praying mantis doesn’t have the best reputation. Seemingly deep in prayer, she snaps up spiders and insects in a flash – sometimes even her own kind or her partner. She has even inspired a few monster movies. And yet, there is a captivating beauty to her that our artists have translated perfectly into glass and metal. And yet, there is a captivating beauty to her that our artists have translated perfectly into glass and metal.

The majestic praying mantis CLEO presents herself with her unmistakable facial expression. From the finely crafted gold-colored antennae to her stable four feet, she is designed with as much artistry as naturalism. The yellow stripes on her glass body and the green-lacquered metal legs add fresh, lively accents that underline her modern look. At around 94 cm (approx. 37 inches) in height, she becomes a striking presence – indoors or outdoors.

A light object that transforms spaces

CLEO is more than decoration. With her warm glow and her mix of elegance and playful eccentricity, she brings a very special atmosphere to any setting – one that can’t be planned, only experienced. Whether in a living room, a conservatory, or an entrance area: whoever places CLEO turns a corner into a focal point and a room into an experience.

Craftsmanship that inspires

Like all Borowski light objects, CLEO is made with precise handcraftsmanship: mouth-blown glass, harmoniously shaped transitions between glass and metal, sturdy green-lacquered legs and metal arms, expressive eyes made of clear glass, and finely crafted golden antennae – every detail is considered and perfectly executed. CLEO is a piece of glass art with real character: bold, playful, and crafted to last.

Here´s looking at you, kid

Cleo’s expressive eyes are a small masterpiece by our glassmakers. The transparent glass is softly frosted on the back, clear on the front – giving it an almost lifelike effect. The delicate color comes from a small light-blue glass disc placed behind the eyes, giving them their characteristic shimmer.

And then there are the violet eyebrows: a feminine detail with a touch of drama, reminiscent of her famous namesake Cleopatra. Cleo simply knows how to stage a look.

Manual Work

A Fusion of Tradition, Craftsmanship and Innovation

Exclusive glass art from the Borowski glass factory

Each object shown here reflects the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. What appears lighthearted, playful, and full of color is in fact created through a demanding and often physically challenging production process. Today, only a small number of people and glass studios worldwide still master the traditional art of glassmaking.

At the Borowski Glass Studio, nearly all known techniques of hot and cold glassworking can be applied. This exceptional range of possibilities allows our artists to continuously develop new ideas and bring even highly ambitious, experimental visions to life in glass.

The brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor, and Pawel Borowski learned to work with the blowpipe and molten glass from the ground up. While Wiktor primarily oversees sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan still work daily at the furnace in the glass studio themselves.

As each object is mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted, slight variations in color, shape, and size are unavoidable. Small air inclusions in the glass are characteristic features of genuine handcrafted studio glass and should not be regarded as flaws, but rather as signs of its individual production process.

Outdoor Objects

OUTDOOR OBJECTS

SUNNY AND SAFE – IN ALL WEATHERS

The friendly figures and characters of the OUTDOOR OBJECTS ensure “fabulous” encounters in gardens and parks – in the true sense of the word. As if from another world chameleons, birds, armadillos, and all sorts of creatures appear – bringing a little piece of their world into our own. The OUTDOOR OBJECTS create a wonderful link to their environment – inviting their owners to smile, dream and linger. These highly individual, happy visitors will enliven your garden or balcony and give your favourite spot a very special magic.

The OUTDOOR OBJECTS are weatherproof and can stand outside all year long. All these art objects are handmade and hand blown with the utmost care.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When fastening your object, you should make sure that it stands securely and does not wibble or tip over, even in wind or knocks. Use the mounting eyelets we provide for this purpose. Position your object so that it is safe from falling rocks or braking branches. Keep in mind that the objects are very heavy due to their quality and protruding parts (e.g. beaks, eyes, ears, tails, crowns) are not suitable as handles.
