A Pelican with a Sense of Presence

SCOOP – The Bowl with a Beak

Did you know that a pelican can scoop up to 12 liters of water? When you see our pelican bowl SCOOP, you can easily imagine it. With its beak wide open, SCOOP seems to be waiting to be filled with anything you would like to present beautifully or keep within reach. Whether fruit, sweets, letters, keys, or bath bombs – SCOOP turns everyday items into a carefully staged display.

Measuring 53 cm in length from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail feather, 32 cm in height, and 21 cm in width, SCOOP brings an elegant horizontal presence. The large beak forms the bowl – functional yet sculptural. The stylized shape, bold colors, and thoughtful details give the pelican a lively, subtly humorous expression.

Sculpture and Vessel in One

The generously sized beak offers ample space for decorative arrangements. Whatever is placed inside appears staged rather than simply set down – presented, not stored.
On a dining table, SCOOP becomes the centerpiece. On a sideboard, it creates a clear visual line. In a hotel lobby or restaurant, it leaves a strong first impression.

Design with Lightness

The pelican appears friendly, inviting, and self-assured – an object that immediately draws attention while remaining entirely at ease. With its beak wide open, it stands as if in a grand gesture, as though it has just made the perfect catch – and one might almost expect a witty remark to follow.

SCOOP thus becomes a character piece that playfully presents and offers. The bold, sometimes unexpected color combinations and the reduced formal language lend the pelican a caricature-like, cheerful lightness.

Manual Work

A Fusion of Tradition, Craftsmanship and Innovation

Exclusive glass art from the Borowski glass factory

Each object shown here reflects the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. What appears lighthearted, playful, and full of color is in fact created through a demanding and often physically challenging production process. Today, only a small number of people and glass studios worldwide still master the traditional art of glassmaking.

At the Borowski Glass Studio, nearly all known techniques of hot and cold glassworking can be applied. This exceptional range of possibilities allows our artists to continuously develop new ideas and bring even highly ambitious, experimental visions to life in glass.

The brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor, and Pawel Borowski learned to work with the blowpipe and molten glass from the ground up. While Wiktor primarily oversees sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan still work daily at the furnace in the glass studio themselves.

As each object is mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted, slight variations in color, shape, and size are unavoidable. Small air inclusions in the glass are characteristic features of genuine handcrafted studio glass and should not be regarded as flaws, but rather as signs of its individual production process.

Studio Line

STUDIO LINE

More than a work of art ...

The objects in the STUDIO LINE collection transport the unmistakable artistic features and qualities of Borowski production into daily life. But they do not want to be satisfied with pure art at all: They are also candlesticks, fruit bowls, vases or paperweights.

They represent the vibrant, open art concept that is so typical for the work of the Borowski brothers. It goes without saying that each object from the STUDIO LINE is an individual piece and has been handmade with a great deal of love and attention to detail.
