The various glass elements that make up GUARD are glued together or set in the glowing state. In addition, the GUARD’s face is engraved with an overlay technique.
When ordering a GUARD, please remember that each GUARD is an individual, no two look alike. When making a GUARD, Pawel keeps reinterpreting the idea. Thus, on the one hand, the sculpture’s appearance has developed over the years, and on the other, its shape and colours change with each individual production process. But don’t worry – we’ll get in touch and send you photos to make sure you’re completely satisfied with your GUARD. However, the complete design of the object remains in the hands of the artist. Please understand that it is not possible to place an order based solely on the customer’s specifications.
Overlay engraving is an old, laborious technique of glass finishing that requires a lot of time and the greatest precision. First, a base glass is coated with one or more colored glass layers. Then these layers of paint are removed with an engraving tool or sandblasting device. The depth of the picture is created by the varying thickness of the layer of colored glass that has been left.
Each object shown here reflects the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. What appears lighthearted, playful, and full of color is in fact created through a demanding and often physically challenging production process. Today, only a small number of people and glass studios worldwide still master the traditional art of glassmaking.
At the Borowski Glass Studio, nearly all known techniques of hot and cold glassworking can be applied. This exceptional range of possibilities allows our artists to continuously develop new ideas and bring even highly ambitious, experimental visions to life in glass.
The brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor, and Pawel Borowski learned to work with the blowpipe and molten glass from the ground up. While Wiktor primarily oversees sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan still work daily at the furnace in the glass studio themselves.
As each object is mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted, slight variations in color, shape, and size are unavoidable. Small air inclusions in the glass are characteristic features of genuine handcrafted studio glass and should not be regarded as flaws, but rather as signs of its individual production process.
The objects of the premium collection Art Objects possess a special value for collectors and art enthusiasts. The exceptional sculptures of this collection are all intricately crafted, brilliantly colored, and uniquely elegant. Each of them is a handmade, personally signed work by the artists Pawel or Stani Jan Borowski.
What all ART OBJECTS have in common are the extraordinary stories that they interpret - and their individuality: each Art Object is a valuable original that contains all the art of the Borowski brothers. The works, produced in small series, are unique in their own right. No PRINCE has a truly identical doppelganger, each LOVE MESSENGER is unique in its color scheme and each RETRO CAR interprets its theme in its own way.
