Description

A small glass object with great charisma

CUCU shows how much charm can be contained in a reduced form. The large eyes, the small red beak and the harmonious proportions give the owl an unmistakable character. The carefully coordinated color compositions are particularly fascinating: The basic shades of apricot, mint green or white are each combined with a contrasting color for the eyes and harmonizing tones for the ears and stripes. In the glass body, transparent glass is combined with lively structures made of less translucent colored glass to create surfaces that almost look like feathers. Despite its compact size of 18 centimetres in height, CUCU has a remarkable presence.

A sparkling jewel in the light

Made of solid, mouth-blown glass, CUCU initially surprises many viewers with its weight. In daylight, the glass reveals its full beauty: rays of light penetrate the material, refract in the colors and make the owl appear different again and again. Particularly intense in backlighting on a windowsill, but also when illuminated on a sideboard or desk, CUCU becomes a small eye-catcher that constantly reveals new facets. It can also be used as a decorative paperweight or as decoration on shelves and in display cabinets.

Colors that belong together

The three color variants have been designed so that they can be perfectly combined with each other. The warm apricot, the soft mint green and the clear white complement each other in a natural way and together create a harmonious overall picture. If you put several CUCUs together, you won’t get a random collection, but a carefully coordinated group of glass objects with different color effects.

For people with an eye for special details

CUCU inspires people who enjoy handcrafted glass objects and lovingly designed details. It is a gift idea for design lovers, a souvenir with lasting value or a small reward for yourself. Anyone who appreciates high-quality objects that are neither loud nor obtrusive but still attract attention will enjoy this charming glass owl for a long time. Each CUCU is traditionally handcrafted and is unique with its own charisma.

Manual Work

A Fusion of Tradition, Craftsmanship and Innovation

Exclusive glass art from the Borowski glass factory

Each object shown here reflects the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. What appears lighthearted, playful, and full of color is in fact created through a demanding and often physically challenging production process. Today, only a small number of people and glass studios worldwide still master the traditional art of glassmaking.

At the Borowski Glass Studio, nearly all known techniques of hot and cold glassworking can be applied. This exceptional range of possibilities allows our artists to continuously develop new ideas and bring even highly ambitious, experimental visions to life in glass.

The brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor, and Pawel Borowski learned to work with the blowpipe and molten glass from the ground up. While Wiktor primarily oversees sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan still work daily at the furnace in the glass studio themselves.

As each object is mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted, slight variations in color, shape, and size are unavoidable. Small air inclusions in the glass are characteristic features of genuine handcrafted studio glass and should not be regarded as flaws, but rather as signs of its individual production process.

STUDIO LINE

More than a work of art ...

The objects in the STUDIO LINE collection transport the unmistakable artistic features and qualities of Borowski production into daily life. But they do not want to be satisfied with pure art at all: They are also candlesticks, fruit bowls, vases or paperweights.

They represent the vibrant, open art concept that is so typical for the work of the Borowski brothers. It goes without saying that each object from the STUDIO LINE is an individual piece and has been handmade with a great deal of love and attention to detail.
