A Salamander Light Object from Another World

BUBBA – Exceptionally Lovable

In folklore, the fire salamander carried an ambivalent reputation – fascinating and feared at the same time. In antiquity, people believed it could live in fire without being burned. For alchemists, it symbolized the purifying, transformative element of fire.

Today, many people feel primarily fascination and respect when they see its high-contrast skin and calm movements. One rarely encounters it – it appears mysterious, composed, strong in character, and as exotic as a creature from another planet.

A Salamander with Charm

Given this profile, it was almost inevitable that our glass artists would turn their attention to the salamander. BUBBA captures its fascination and exotic appeal – and translates them into glass. But this salamander is nothing to be afraid of – quite the opposite!

The rounded, generously proportioned body stands out with striking contrast stripes. The short, curled tail sticks out playfully. And then there is the head: elliptically shaped, with spherical eyes that seem bright, alert, and curious. There is something reminiscent of a charming 1950s retro sci-fi alien – friendly, inquisitive, and entirely harmless.

And Suddenly, You Like Salamanders

In its setting, BUBBA feels like a special guest – eye-catching, yet full of charm. Among garden plants, on natural stone, or near a water feature, it creates a deliberate accent. Its exotic appearance remains present without ever feeling foreign or forced. The rounded shapes and the alert, almost friendly gaze create immediate warmth and sympathy – you may even have to resist the impulse to pick it up.

Standing Out – Without Overstating

When illuminated, the effect is not dramatic but gently atmospheric. The light gathers within the glass, giving it depth without dominating its surroundings. On a terrace, along a garden wall, or beside a large, lush indoor plant, BUBBA reveals this perfect balance of distinctiveness and approachability: noticeable enough to be seen – relaxed enough to blend in harmoniously.

It feels like a being from another world.
But one you would gladly keep close.

Manual Work

Exclusive Glass Art from Borowski Glassworks: Tradition, Craftsmanship, and Innovation Combined

Each object shown here embodies the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. Behind each of the objects that appear so light, cheerful and colorful is a complex, often sweaty manufacturing process. Today only a few people or manufactories master the old, demanding craft of the glassmaker.

In the Borowski Glass Studio you can work with almost all known techniques of cold and hot glass processing - this enables the artists to realize challenging visions and constant new, experimental ideas.

The three brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor and Pawel Borowski learned how to use the glass pipe and the glowing material from scratch. While Wiktor mainly takes care of sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan work in the factory on site every day at the glass furnace.

Mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted glass objects may have minor color and shape deviations that are unavoidable for manufacturing reasons. Air inclusions in the glass are a sign of the handmade product and should not be regarded as a defect. There may be deviations of a few centimeters in the size specifications.

OUTDOOR OBJECTS

SUNNY AND SAFE – IN ALL WEATHERS

The friendly figures and characters of the OUTDOOR OBJECTS ensure “fabulous” encounters in gardens and parks – in the true sense of the word. As if from another world chameleons, birds, armadillos, and all sorts of creatures appear – bringing a little piece of their world into our own. The OUTDOOR OBJECTS create a wonderful link to their environment – inviting their owners to smile, dream and linger. These highly individual, happy visitors will enliven your garden or balcony and give your favourite spot a very special magic.

The OUTDOOR OBJECTS are weatherproof and can stand outside all year long. All these art objects are handmade and hand blown with the utmost care.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When fastening your object, you should make sure that it stands securely and does not wibble or tip over, even in wind or knocks. Use the mounting eyelets we provide for this purpose. Position your object so that it is safe from falling rocks or braking branches. Keep in mind that the objects are very heavy due to their quality and protruding parts (e.g. beaks, eyes, ears, tails, crowns) are not suitable as handles.
