Hello,

So far, they’ve been calling me RHINO.
If the name works for you, let’s keep it. If not – I’m open to suggestions. I’m not one to get hung up on appearances.

I just wanted to briefly introduce myself. And share a few things you might not notice at first glance.

I’m heavy. In the best possible way. And I come from a very hot place. My head was heated to nearly 1,200 degrees Celsius – that’s when it was shaped from molten glass, and the colored glass and gold leaf were applied. Not an easy process, or so they say at the furnace. Things got a little rough now and then, and I picked up a few small scars along the way. I think they suit me.

My body? Steel. Shaped under intense heat, as it should be. At first, my surface has a fine, rust-colored haze. Sometimes it looks a bit patchy – but that changes with time. It slowly develops into an even layer of patina that protects me. And gives me character. Refined rust, you could say. I just take a little while to grow into myself.

A small note: in the rain, some of that rust might wash off. So I’d prefer to stand on a surface that won’t mind.

“I know, I have quite a presence. I’ll admit I’m a little proud of that. You have to allow yourself that much.”

There’s something you might not see from the outside: I carry a light within me. And I think that’s important. Not too bright, but steady. In fact, there are two lights – one shines forward, the other to the back. I like balance.
If I ever stay dark, it usually means the light source needs changing. Just lay me gently on my side – a blanket or some soft grass would be appreciated. My belly plate can be opened with a wrench. Twist open the right side of the fixture and you’ll reach the bulb.

Sometimes my face can look a bit dusty or dull. A damp cloth does wonders. And with a little silicone spray or a matt glass conditioner from Glasstudio BOROWSKI, I get my signature glow back – well, a velvety one, at least.

Once I’m standing upright again – steady, quiet, with my inner light on – I hope you’ll see that I’m right where I belong.

RHINO in the sculpture park Andernach

The outdoor facilities of the Hotel Einstein at the Römerpark in Andernach are designed as a landscape and sculpture park and invite you to stroll and marvel.

A permanent exhibition of Borowski OUTDOOR OBJECTS has been created around the hotel. The numerous sculptures and light objects provide artistic enjoyment and fit perfectly into the overall picture of the complex.

Our light objects are designed as outdoor sculptures and easily withstand the effects of wind and weather all year round. Of course, they can also be used indoors.

Manual Work

Exclusive Glass Art from Borowski Glassworks: Tradition, Craftsmanship, and Innovation Combined

Each object shown here embodies the craftsmanship of our glassmakers. Behind each of the objects that appear so light, cheerful and colorful is a complex, often sweaty manufacturing process. Today only a few people or manufactories master the old, demanding craft of the glassmaker.

In the Borowski Glass Studio you can work with almost all known techniques of cold and hot glass processing - this enables the artists to realize challenging visions and constant new, experimental ideas.

The three brothers Stani-Jan, Wiktor and Pawel Borowski learned how to use the glass pipe and the glowing material from scratch. While Wiktor mainly takes care of sales, Pawel and Stani-Jan work in the factory on site every day at the glass furnace.

Mouth-blown and traditionally handcrafted glass objects may have minor color and shape deviations that are unavoidable for manufacturing reasons. Air inclusions in the glass are a sign of the handmade product and should not be regarded as a defect. There may be deviations of a few centimeters in the size specifications.

The OUTDOOR OBJECTS are weatherproof and can stand outside all year long. All these art objects are handmade and hand blown with the utmost care.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When fastening your object, you should make sure that it stands securely and does not wibble or tip over, even in wind or knocks. Use the mounting eyelets we provide for this purpose. Position your object so that it is safe from falling rocks or braking branches. Keep in mind that the objects are very heavy due to their quality and protruding parts (e.g. beaks, eyes, ears, tails, crowns) are not suitable as handles.

Please note that deliveries to countries outside the EU may incur customs and import fees for which the buyer is responsible.

The goods will be dispatched after confirmed receipt of payment.
Delivery times are 2-3 working days, 2-3 weeks or 4-6 weeks depending on the product and stock. Please refer to the information on the respective product page for the delivery time.

Deliveries outside the EU may be delayed by customs.

Shipping methods:

  1. By DHL: one or more small objects will be sent to you in one package by DHL.
  2. You can get larger objects by shipping agency. They will contact you to arrange an appointment.
